Restaurant Review - Trenchers at Spanish City - Our recent family visit

(AD) We were kindly invited along to review a complimentary three course meal each at Trenchers at Spanish City.

We have visited Trenchers once in the past and the food was really good, so we were thrilled when they got in touch. The last time we visited was Christmas 2021 and the Tree was so beautiful.

Today we were greeted by the lovely staff and Debbie was our server, who was lovely. We were quickly seated in our booth and drinks we ordered drinks, which came pretty quickly.

Kids Menu

For the kids menu you have plenty of options to choose from which include a 3 course meal for £6.95 Your options are:

Starters - Crudités and Hummus. Elliot said the hummus was delicious and the veggie sticks were super fresh.

Mains you can choose from:

Chunky Cod Bites , Chicken nuggets, Tomato and cheese pasta, Chip shop sausage or Scampi

Elliot choose the Sausage battered, which came with chips and a choice of beans, peas or mushy peas. He said the food was amazing and he wants to come back for his birthday meal!

Desserts

Ice Cream Sundae, Chocolate Brownie, Sticky Toffee Pudding or Knickerbocker Glory. Elliot had the Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream and licked his plate clean!

Trenchers have a fantastic deal on at the minute.

Kids eat free between 3pm-6pm on weekdays with every paying adult *Excludes Holidays* I previously asked about the age limits and was told 12 and under but please check as this may have changed. Full details can be found HERE

Adult Meals

I was pleasantly surprised at the options for the adult meals as there's quite a range of options. I will tell you what we had below but please be aware it is not just a fish and chip restaurant and they do have other options available, as well as a large range of seafood. I would like to point out though, if your child (under16) is not a big eater I would recommend the kids meals because the portions are large. My oldest 2 are now 16 and 14 and are big eaters, however they are extremely active and have a high metabolism and will just eat and eat.

This is what our meals looked like:

Toby

Scampi starter which came with mushy peas and could have easily been the main meal. With Chicken Burger and skin on fries for his main, The chicken Burger is not on the menu at the moment and it is something they are trialling if it is popular enough they will keep it. Toby loved it and said it was absolutely delicious. For dessert he had the Chocolate Fudge Cake with Chocolate Ice cream. I honestly do not know where these kids put the food!

Adam

Starters - Calamari - Crispy Soy & Chilli Squid with chilli jam. This was amazing and I will definitley be back for it myself! Chip shop Platter for main which includes Battered sausage, battered cod, salmon fish cake, chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. Dessert was Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Craig

Soup of the day Starter - Minestrone

Chip shop platter main

Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert

Myself

Prawn and Crayfish Starter, which was super nice and creamy served with bread and butter

Main - Regular Cod with chips and mushy peas. I am not normally a fan of battered fish but OMG it was divine. Super crispy, no grease in sight and the fish was super fresh. The mushy peas were too runny for me though. I don't normally eat potato, especially chips but I did try a few and they were lovely and fluffy and proper chips too.

Dessert - Chocolate Brownie which was delicious, melt in your mouth. However, I wish I had ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding!

Lets stop everything and talk about Trenchers Sticky Toffee Pudding. The pudding is lovely however what makes this the best dessert is the sauce. It is absolutely amazing and I wish they bottled it and sold it, because I would be their best customer. If I could describe the flavour it would be.... Melted Werther's Originals it is amazing.

Service was fantastic and probably the best we have had, they did know we were coming to review. Service was quick and staff kept coming over to check we were ok which I loved. Food came out pretty quickly and we only ever waited maybe 5 minutes for the desserts.

Everything was spot on on the food was amazing. The boys all enjoyed there meals and had no complaints. Portion sizes are large and I feel like it was good value for the service and standard of food you get. You have a large range of food to choose from and I think its great that they have included other options for those who are not too keen on Fish/seafood. Toby tried the chicken burger and he said it was delicious, the batter was tasty and he ate every crumb. I personally loved the board up on the wall which tells you where your fish was caught and even where your chips are from. We had a range of sauces on the table along with vinegar, salt and pepper. You get a true feeling of splendour whilst dining under the dome and the décor is to die for. Seating is great, you have a range of options from booths, 2/4 seater tables and I am pretty sure I eyed a 14 seater table too. You can also find a Kids activity booklet when you arrive.
