A topic of conversation that always comes up is will I write a public transport post. I have been meaning to do one for a while now, whilst I am resting my knee (long story) I thought I would tackle this topic. Obviously there's loads of places you could go, travelling by public transport but I have tried to keep it to full days out ideas and most are budget friendly.

Sunderland
Sunderland has a great rail connection and most attractions are accessible by either Bus, Train or Metro. The city centre attractions are all a very short walk away from either the train station or bus station.

Washington Old Hall
Services to Washington Galleries from Newcastle and County Durham (4, X1 X1A, 1.2 mile/2km/25 min walk) and to Washington village from Gateshead (81, 82, 82A, 83 nearest stop Village Lane, 2 min walk)
WWT Washington
The centre is served daily by buses to the Waterview Park government building and is just a short walk down the lane. 81, 82, 83, 939
Roker/Seaburn
Head to the beach and enjoy some fantastic coastline to enjoy, arcades and lots of lovely eateries. Stagecoach services E1, E2 and E6 all serve the seafront from both Sunderland City Centre and South Shields.
Sunderland Training and Educational Farm
The best service to use is Stagecoach 10, 11 from Sunderland city centre
Newcastle
Newcastle has a great rail connection and most attractions are accessible by either Bus, Train or Metro.

Seven Stories
From Central Station (Clayton Street) Newcastle - Bus number 22 stops at the Tanner's Arms and walk down Crawhall Road, then Stepney Bank to Lime Street.
From Monument (Blackett Street) Newcastle – Bus numbers 39 and 40, 12, 62 and 63 onto New Bridge Street. Stop is opposite St Dominic's Church.

Just a short walk away from the bus station. Cathedral bus service also available.
Botanic Gardens
Upon arriving at Durham Bus Station take the Arriva No 6 Bishop Auckland service.
Oriental Museum
From Durham Bus Station, catch the 6 or 6a to Bishop Auckland and get off at the stop for the Botanic Garden.
Crook Hall NT
Cathedral Bus 40a stops at Freeman's Place coach park, a 6 minute walk to Crook Hall Gardens via Framwellgate Waterside.
Beamish
Service 28 offers a bus service from Newcastle City Centre, Gateshead, Birtley, Ouston and Chester-le-Street. Service 29 operates a service between Newcastle, Gateshead, Kibblesworth, Ouston, Beamish, Grange Villa, Pelton Fell and Chester-le-Street.
Service 8 runs between Stanley and Sunderland.
Locomotion
Regular bus services run from Bishop Auckland and Darlington. Arriva number 1 (from Darlington) and number 5. Just a three-minute walk from Shildon railway station, served by Northern Rail trains from Darlington and Bishop Auckland.
Middlesbrough
The Dorman Museum
Arriva service 63 from Middlesbrough to Redcar stops outside the museum
Albert Park
Fantastic play area, picnic spot also has a roller rink

RSPB Saltholme
The nearest bus stop is outside the entrance to Saltholme, on the Seaton Carew Rd. The Number 1 stops here and is run by Stagecoach in Hartlepool.

Services from Middlesbrough: 63 / 28
Newham Grange Farm
The Stagecoach number 10 bus runs between Middlesbrough bus station and Coulby Newham, and stops close to the farm. The stop name is Grange Farm. The journey is around 25 minutes, with a further 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the farm.

Arriva Northumbria service 306
Tynemouth Aquarium
Getting the Metro, get off at the Cullercoats stop and it’s just a short 10-minute walk along the seafront. By bus from Gateshead to the coast. It is service number 1 and it stops off just by the aquarium. Alternatively the Arriva 306 from Newcastle city centre also stops nearby.
St Marys Lighthouse
308 and 309 Blyth buses travels every 15 minutes from here. Get off at Whitley Bay Cemetery for the island.
Seaton Delaval Hall NT
Arriva service X7 from Newcastle Haymarket Bus Station to Blyth every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday and hourly on Sundays, stopping at Seaton Delaval Hall
Arriva service 308 from Haymarket Bus Station to Blyth, stops approximately half a mile away in Seaton Sluice.
Go North East service 309 from Haymarket Bus Station to Blyth stops approximately half a mile away in Seaton Sluice.
South Tyneside
Jarrow Hall
Go North East bus number 27, it is also a 10 minute walk from Jarrow Metro station.
South Shields Museum, The Dunes, Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, The Word and Arbeia Roman Fort
All of these great attractions are just a short walk from the metro station

It is about a 12 minute walk from Eaglescliffe Railway Station. Arriva service 7 from Stockton or Yarm stops at the main entrance.

Belsay Hall
The X75 bus is back and will be a free bus service for 2023 for visitors to Wallington and Belsay. This service runs Saturdays only and departs from Haymarket bus station.
