Review| Pets & Friends Eco friendly Dog bed

*Please Note we were gifted the dog bed in return for this review.

She looks tiny in the photo! She is a large breed close to a German Shepherd size.

When Pets & Friends contacted me to find out if one of the dogs would like a dog bed to try out, we were thrilled. I had a good look on the website and was over the moon with what I read.

About Summer

Summer is our older dog, she is our Shepherd/Collie mix and she came to us from Romania at 5 months old and will be 8 years old in August. When she came to live with us she was in a foster home in the North of England and had been treated poorly, which is just not right especially coming from Romania when she was picked up just weeks old on the street with her siblings and mother. We had a few issues at first with her, she wasn't house trained and had no basic training whatsoever. I spend the first 24 hours toilet training her and she had it mastered. From then on I just knew training was going to be a piece of cake. I then decided to train her to be Toby's therapy dog (Toby has Sensory processing disorder and Tourette's along with a painful joint condition known as Hypermobility syndrome) Summer knows when he is in pain or is having a bit of an off day and will keep him safe and calm him down. She is just an amazing dog to have around.

The bed

We are forever trying to raise awareness on plastic and the damage it causes to marine life. The dog beds are Eco/sustainable dog beds that are made from recycled plastic bottles collected from oceans, rivers, beaches etc. FANTASTIC!

The beds are made recycled polyester fabric for a comfy and durable finish. Summer has been lying on hers for around a week now and it is still in as new condition! She will be 8 years old in August and is a bit achy in places so we are always on the lookout for comfy beds for her that will last a bit longer than the cheaper options you can buy from a standard pet shop. She has never been a chewer, so we don't have to worry about her destroying the bed and it sits nicely in our hallway near the radiator which is her favourite spot to watch the daily ins and outs of everyday life.

The bed summer received was the project Blu Adriatic Domino dog bed in Grey in the XL (Other sizes are available)

The beds are made in Italy and this bed in particular to purchase costs £119, although cheaper options are available. (I would recommend them as they are fantastic) well worth the price. I have seen dog beds in pet stores that cost up to £500 and they don't seem to be as good quality as this one. Pets & Friends stock a huge list of products from Pet beds, food, treats, medications, accessories, grooming, coats, collars and leads. There is even a section for small pets too.

So far Summer is very happy with her bed from Pets & Friends

We have been thinking of purchasing one for Iris, our 3 year old Border Collie.

Important info

*Extra Large 110cm x 85cm x 20cm | Labrador, Dalmatian, Golden Retriever. I would say it is suitable for slightly bigger (shepherd size) as Summer is a large breed dog and towers over our Border Collie.

*Made with at least 133 plastic bottles

*£119 for the one we received

*Does not have removable covers but can be wiped down if needed. (Summer has her favourite rag rug over the cushion in hers.)
