Thinking ahead – Summer Holidays: My favourite Places to visit with a family in the UK

Those that go on holiday especially in the Summer, during the six weeks, will know only too well that the prices will go up and up, especially if you plan on going abroad. Tourists mean money. We are originally from the North East, we moved to Scotland in 2016 and we have found the school holidays are different, usually by a few weeks. If we travel back down to Newcastle and book a holiday it is so much more cheaper than booking it in Scotland, it works the other way too. This year for 2019 we have decided to explore what our fantastic country has to offer, We still try to book our Holidays in advance though, which helps save some pounds. For a holiday I try to book at least 7 months in advanced and have had October half term 2019 booked up since December 2018. Our summer 2019 will be spent travelling to different parts of the UK. The UK is pretty big, it has so much to offer. You could try the following: North Yorkshire – one of my favourite places that we usually visit for a week in October So many great places to visit with kids in Yorkshire. Here is my post about our last holiday. We like to go pond dipping in Goathland.

Scotland – Scotland has some beautiful views and attractions, it really depends where in Scotland you want to visit. See if you can find Nessie! We currently live in the picturesque Scottish Borders, last year we did a Highland road trip but we just passed through most places so we plan on exploring more this summer. We recently visited a few new places in the Highlands and my favourite was Portmahomack, small but very pretty and a gorgeous view. I could see myself staying there for a while actually.

The Jurassic coast – If like me you like fossils, this is for you! Absolutely gorgeous part of the UK. The Jurassic Coast has one of the most spectacular coastlines in England, and has recently been given World Heritage status in recognition of its geological importance. The coast extends for 95 miles and takes in dramatic cliffs, spectacular arches and sea stacks.

Snowdonia – Long walks, gorgeous views and castles. Perfect for a family getaway. With lots to see and do.

London – London has so much to offer, top attractions from Buckingham Palace, The tower of London, The London Eye, The London Zoo and world class Museums. You could go and see a Broadway show. You will be busy for weeks!

These are just some of my favourite places to explore, there is something for everyone in the UK, so if you don’t want to spend tons of cash going to another country, why don’t you explore the one you live in first. What are your holiday plans if any for 2019?
