We were invited along to the stunning Langley Castle Hotel and Restaurant in Northumberland, to try out the Afternoon tea on offer. Wow it is amazing!
The weather was miserable on our visit, but the autumn colours brightened things up and, once you are inside this gorgeous building, you completely forget about the outside world. The grounds are stunning as is the castle and upon arrival the staff were lovely and welcoming.
We were sent to the Drawing room which is stunning and very inviting. I have been told that the fire will be getting lit in the next few weeks which will add to the experience even more and make it super cosy.
On our visit we were treated to the Traditional Afternoon tea and the Gentleman's tea.
This is what's included:
The Traditional Afternoon tea
Finger sandwiches a selection of Egg And Cress, Cucumber and cream cheese, oak smoked salmon and local ham with Mustard mayo.
All absolutely delish, my favourite was the cucumber, I prefer a much simpler food and this suited me well.
I wasn't a fan of the salmon but honestly I am so awkward with fish and I'm not a fan of Salmon.
You also get a cheese scone and a fruit scone with cream and jam. The cheese scone was my favourite and it was absolutely delicious. So fluffy.
Cakes were :
Biscoff - absolutely one of the best cakes I've had, it was so nice
Lemon drizzle - again delicious and fluffy
Walnut and carrot - really tasty, I love a good carrot cake.
You can also have a pot of tea or coffee or alternatively you can upgrade to an alcoholic drink.
The Gentleman's tea
Same as above but instead of sandwiches you got
Haggis bon bon (I don't usually like haggis, but this was delicious)
Ham hock terrine & piccalilli - tasty but I'm not a fan of piccalilli
Sausage roll - really tasty
Tomato & Cheese Quiche - delicious.
The afternoon teas start from £25 per person which I think is a fab price considering the amount of food and the setting.
Also available (we didn't try) is the children's Afternoon tea which starts from £15 per child.
You can choose from more traditional sandwich's such as chocolate spread, Peanut Butter & Jam, Ham and get a selection of cakes.
The whole experience was fantastic and we highly recommend it as a date idea, a girly afternoon or if you just fancy a treat. The staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough to help.
