A Christmas Carol at Northern Stage

REVIEW - "A Christmas Carol" at Northern Stage Newcastle.

Laura headed along to Northern Stage to check out their production of this festive classic.

Here's her review

A Christmas Carol at Northern Stage- a mesmerising performance and superb venue.

The cast and set brought this old classic back to life and, although the script was very faithful to the novella, the music and artistry made it feel incredibly fresh.

Michael Hodgson plays a brilliant Ebeneezer Scrooge- a loathsome turned piteous character.

Malik Ibheis' depiction of Marley's Ghost as well as The Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, were the standout performances for me. From creepy characterisation to aerial acrobatics, the audience remain hooked throughout.

We started the evening treating ourselves to the festive menu and between the four of us, we really enjoyed what we had. I went for the goats cheese, beetroot, sage, olive and spinach pizza, which was delicious and the kids loved the macaroni cheese.

Ice cream tubs at the interval were £3.10- not as extortionate as most theatres.

This was my first visit to Northern Stage- but I've got it on my watch list now.
