The Blogger Recognition Award and My Nominations

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

Firstly, I want to thank the fabulous Nicole from Northern Irish Girl Online for nominating me. I am very Grateful.

Now about the Award.

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers who appreciate the hard work, dedication and vast amount of hours we all put into each and every post, as well as keeping the website current and updated.

How My Blog was born

My love for writing started at a very young age. I was always creating stories and I was a big part of the journalist team for the school paper.

I actually started blogging quite a few years ago when I had my first child, Adam, but only in private for myself. I needed a way to get my thoughts out of my head and into an online diary, you see I have always preferred to write my feelings and thoughts down as I find it easy to express myself this way.

I found myself struggling after my first child was born due to weight gain and how different my body was. I was eventually diagnosed with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I was piling makeup on my face ( I was using a full concealer every few days) and every time I saw myself in a mirror I would see myself as huge, even though I wasn't. With support from my husband I pulled through and I have been doing so well ever since. It's been twelve years now and I am starting to accept that this is me. I don't even wear foundation now!

Skip to September 2018 and I decided after my holiday I was going to Start a Blog.

First I created my site, added pictures and a few posts and I was ready to hit publish. I have to admit I was hit with the "what if's" before I hit publish but I did it anyway.

My blog is quite a mix of content from parenting, lifestyle, travel, reviews, recipes and whatever else I see fit.

The name Peppermint Pixie - I needed a name for my blog, I love christmas and peppermint reminds me of Christmas and I love Pixies. I put the two together and hey presto you have The Peppermint Pixie.

My blog is something for me, in a house full of testosterone this is mine, somewhere I can go to write my stories.

I haven't been a published blogger all that long but in the short time I have blogged I have met some wonderful people.

My Advice to Bloggers just starting out

1) Try to be consistent with your blog, you choose how often you want to post but I would definitely recommend dedicating certain days for certain topics (you can schedule these) that way your followers will have something to look forward to.

2) Don't give up. If I can do it anyone can. It is hard at first building followers and creating quality content. Most definitely do not compare yourself to others, if you work for it you will see your followers grow.

Most importantly enjoy yourself and don't be too hard on yourself.

Here are 15 amazing bloggers that I want to nominate for this award

There you have my 15 Nominations, seriously go check them out.

Thank you for reading.
